Body Movin'

At about 10AM and 10PM daily, i can feel distinctive baby movement. There's kicking/dancing/whatever going on periodically at other times during the day as well, but 10AM/PM movements are pretty strong. Like "What the hell are you doing in there, anyway??" strong. On the first ultrasound, the kid was moving non-stop throughout the procedure.

I've read that about this time in the pregnancy, the baby starts having regular sleeping patterns...
Great..the kid is gonna sleep all day and get up at 10PM. A real Daddy's girl/boy...

Did I Mention...?

That I am gaining weight and my back hurts? I think I *did* mention that...

Got a spanky new chair from work that has cut the back pain considerably.

Was looking at maternity clothes online and noticed that the underwear models don't look that different from me, body-shape wise, so I decided to try and freak out less about the weight gain stuff.

Shoot...now what can I complain about? Bah...I'll think of something, I'm sure...

I'll post our 20 week belly photos tomorrow. Yes, I took a 20 week belly photo of DaddyR.

I think another one to add to that list would be "You know? Its still hard to tell if you're pregnant or just fat."

Predictions....

My granny says that the baby will be an 8lb boy born on Feb 14/05.

Consider your prediction noted, granny...

Thankfully, she has accepted the fact that we chose names and has stopped suggesting that the baby be named after one of our many dead cats...

Er...Maybe Halfway There?

Doctor called me to say that she has scheduled another ultrasound for Oct. 5 as they were unable to "get the dates" with the results of my scan on Sept.13....

Hope "the dates" don't change too drastically as I have only been preparing for an Aquarius kid..not Capricorn...or Pisces? Nature, please do not let this pregnancy go on past Feb10/2005...

Hopefully this time the tech will be able to see if its a boy or a girl...

Halfway There!

I see by the baby ticker that I am now halfway through the pregnancy!

yay 20 week mark! wonder if the remaining 20 weeks will pass as quickly as the first...?

How wrong is it...

Udderly painful

Ugh...today I finally noticed some back pain. For years I have been slouching and destroying any possibility of having "good posture" and it would appear that I have to try and stop that now. I was 115lbs back in May...last weigh-in I was 142lbs. That number really offends what little sense of vanity I have...I like to pretend that its the baby's weight and the fact that my blood volume has increased by 40% (Heavy metal is in my blood, man).

The middle of my back is breaking from my new-found udder. Daddy R seems to think that its really cool that I have "Porn Star Boobs". He even offers to carry them around the house for me, but, well, it just gets weird. And now something sexy from CNN (a frickin pound???):

Breasts. Stimulated by estrogen and progesterone, your breasts enlarge as the milk-producing glands inside them increase in size. Breast enlargement accounts for about a pound of the weight you gain during your pregnancy. Some, but not much, of the increased breast size is due to increased fat. The tiny bumps that circle the areolas — skin glands called Montgomery's tubercles — start enlarging. These glands secrete oils that moisturize and soften the skin of your nipples and areolas.

My lower back hassles me if i stand too long or walk too much. I looked like I needed a V8 or something when I found a relatively comfortable position for doing the dishes tonight...wonder if the fetish stores sell baby carriers for adults...

Waking Life

Every night, I wake once for each of the following reasons:
  • Drink water
  • Go pee
  • Snap out of a really bizarre dream
  • Turn over because I am laying on my right side and perhaps cutting off the baby's blood supply. Paranoia never sleeps.
  • Kick Daddy R so he stops snoring or breathing garlic-breath on my face...or both
I think I average about 2 hours of uninterrupted sleep per night. After February, I can replace the "Turn over off my right side" with "Feed Baby" and increase the waking frequency from 'once' to "x times/night". Joy.
I have heard that the sleep thing gets worse too. I think somewhere around the time when my belly entirely obscures my feet from my view, I won't be able to sleep on my back either. Yet another cutting off blood supply thing.
